About us

We are sisters, Kara and Makenna, cultivating beauty and growing dreams on our family-heirloom farm in Cache Valley Utah (Avon).

The Heirloom: Our farm has been in our family for nearly a century and has been cherished through 4 generations. Our grandparents’ 1940s-era written-letters described their dream of “moving to Avon to farm the land,” upon grandpa’s eventual return from his service in World War II. However, the reality of a growing family and the obligations of responsibility prevented them from ever pursuing their newly-wed farming dreams. Two months prior to his passing, at the age of 80 years, Grandpa visited his beloved Avon property one final time. He expressed with tear-filled eyes, “I could have LIVED here"…”

Grandpa was my very first best-friend, and Makenna was his pride and joy. We are carrying on his memory through living our own dreams of growing local, specialty, seasonal flowers on the same beloved acreage in Avon.

The Blooms: Caring for the land and preserving nature is of utmost importance to us. Makenna obtained a Master of Science degree in Biology, studying bees. We are both second generation honeybee keepers, and we have a collection of hives on the farm. Makenna understands how and ensures that our farming practices prioritize pollinator health. We use organic methods and grow seasonal blooms that are ethereal in look and feel. Many are varieties that cannot be found in grocery stores or large scale imported markets.

Makenna and I value our family’s heritage and we value the peace and magic felt through interacting with nature, and we hope to share that with you through our intentionally curated, “Heirblooms”.
